Bulky Waste Pick-Up

The City of Dayton provides four bulk-waste pick-ups a year at no cost.  Bulk waste pick-ups must be scheduled in advance by calling 333-4800.

Residents can call between new expanded hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Bulk waste items are to be set out after 3:00 p.m. of the day before the scheduled pick-up.  City crews begin pick-ups at 7:00 a.m.

Bulk Waste Guidelines

You must separate your metal items (stoves, refrigerators, etc.) from other bulk items.  Remember to remove refrigerator doors.

n      All loose and small items must be securely contained, bundled or bagged for easy pickup.

n      Sorry, the City cannot pick up concrete, rocks, brick blocks, sand, gravel, or hazardous waste.

n     Yard waste (brush, hedges, tree limbs, etc.) must be tied into bundles not larger than 4 feet long and 18 inches in diameter.

n    Bundles are limited to 25 pounds each.

n     Remember, the City cannot pickup grass clippings.

Waste Collection Do’s and Don’ts:
n      Do have your rollout container or bulk items out by 7:00 a.m.
n      Do keep bulk and metal items separated (they're picked up by a separate truck).
n      Do place the recycling container or any other items at least 5 feet from your rollout container.
n      Do keep yard waste separated from other collection items (it also must be cut and tied in 4-foot

lengths no larger than 18 inches in diameter).
n      Do not leave rollout at curb or alley after collection.
n      Do not overfill rollout (lid should be closed on rollout).
n      Do not place any hot items in rollout (e.g., ashes from fireplace).
n      Do not place rollout close to any obstruction (such as an automobile).
n      Do not put loose trash in rollout (wrap or bag all trash).
n      Do not have trash piled on or around rollout.
