Major Jerry Smith is the Superintendent of the Professional Standards Division.

We in the Professional Standards Division strive to ensure that the officers of the Dayton Police Department are providing our community with the most professional service possible.

The Professional Standards Division reports directly to the Chief of Police and consists of the Internal Affairs Unit, Public Records Administrator, Homeland Security Office, Policy Unit, Background Investigators, and the Joint Terrorism Task Force. Of these units, the one that provides services directly to our citizens is Internal Affairs
